DETAILS: Filtered Water Faucet + Backsplash

This dedicated filtered water faucet is more than just a residential luxury in my RV kitchen — it’s helping me save a lot of plastic water bottles. Now, whenever I’m hooked up to city water, I use this new faucet (with the upgraded in-line 3M Filtrete Maximum Water Filter) exclusively to drink from as well as for all cooking needs (i.e. water for coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, pasta, etc.). I used to be a bottled water snob, but this system has converted me.

I drink a lot of water, but even though the OEM plumbing had an under sink filter attached to the cold water line of the kitchen faucet, I never felt comfortable drinking water from “the tap”. Winnebago installed a subpar filter that was usually mixing the unfiltered hot with the filtered cold, so I would need to waste water before I would get true filtered water on the cold line. Additionally, the filtered line on the main faucet slowed the volume of cold water which seemed unnecessary and wasteful when simply washing hands or dishes.

Installation of Filtered Water Faucet
The first step is to remove the old filter from the plumbing and restore the cold water source line directly to the cold water line of the main faucet. In the case of my plumbing (different rigs may vary), I needed the 1/2” to 1/2” HEX Nipple and a 1/2” hose (see photos).
