DETAILS: Refrigerator Vent Screws

Prior to mid-2018 when the compressor refrigerator was introduced, View/Navions have two refrigerator vents on the side of the RV. Due to the design of the latching mechanism, in combination with the winds at highway speeds, many owners will agree that it’s not “if” they’ll blow off some day, it’s just when!

The easy fix to prevent this fate is to drill two holes in the vent and use the existing screws that are hidden directly below where they appear in the photos. First, take off the vents (slide the two latches inwards, located inside the top lip of each vent). You’ll find a total of 6 screws around the perimeter. Remove the two screws in the positions shown in the photos.

Temporarily replace the vent cover(s) and carefully measure and mark where the two holes would need to be drilled. Then drill, reinstall vent, and screw in place! In my 2018, the existing screws were long enough to still reach the original holes with plenty of thread. If you find that the screws are too short, simply replace the screws with longer ones in the color of your choice from a hardware store.

Be sure to do both refrigerator vents, top and bottom!
